Omnipotence

Behaving as if one possesses special powers or abilities superior to others.

Omnipotence is the belief or behavior that one possesses special powers or abilities superior to others. This defense mechanism often develops as a way to cope with feelings of powerlessness or vulnerability, providing a false sense of control and invincibility. In psychodynamic theory, omnipotence can be seen as an attempt to compensate for deep-seated insecurities and fears. While it may initially serve a protective purpose, it can lead to unrealistic expectations and difficulties in forming genuine connections.
